On 15 April 2024, SSDF, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and funded by USAID, organized an Egg Coloring event in Al Shuhadda Neighborhood in Sinjar. The activity was part of a series of recreational events organized by SSDF's Al-Amal GBV Center to celebrate the Yazidi New Year. Egg coloring is a cherished Yazidi New Year tradition symbolizing fertility, rebirth, and the vibrant colors of life. It also provides an opportunity for the community to come together in a spirit of joy and solidarity. The event brought together 26 beneficiaries, including 10 survivors of violence, who participated in the traditional practice of decorating boiled eggs in a variety of colors to celebrate the occasion. Beyond the celebration itself, the activity supported the psychological well-being of participants, helped preserve the cultural heritage of the Yazidi community, and fostered healing and a stronger sense of community.
