On 6 November 2024, SSDF, in partnership with UNHCR, organized two capacity-building training sessions for DAFI Programme students in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah Governorates. A total of 25 students participated in the training, including 19 students in Erbil and 6 students in Sulaymaniyah. The training aimed to prepare students to compete successfully in the job market and equip them with the skills needed to establish their own microenterprises. The sessions covered key topics, including: ● CV and résumé writing. ● Job search skills. ● Interview techniques. Participants also engaged in interactive group activities and discussions, providing practical learning experiences that enhanced their employability and career readiness. In 2024, the DAFI Scholarship Programme supported 93 refugee students studying in Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and Baghdad. The scholarship covered tuition fees, subsistence allowances, and other education-related expenses. In addition, the programme provided continuous support through regular monitoring, counseling, peer mentoring, and networking opportunities to strengthen students' academic success and professional development. In Iraq, the DAFI Programme serves a refugee population of approximately 300,000 refugees and asylum seekers, the majority of whom are Syrians residing in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
