Overview: SSDF executed a WASH and school-based health intervention to reduce the risk of waterborne diseases among IDP, returnee, and host community families. The project established Health Clubs, rehabilitated school WASH facilities, and produced printed and painted hygiene awareness materials. It also delivered Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) training for female secondary teachers, conducted MHM awareness sessions for female students, and distributed sanitary napkins.

Overview: SSDF implemented an emergency WASH intervention targeting 12,000 displaced families (84,000 individuals) affected by military operations in Mosul, Hawija, and Shirqat. With an approved grant budget of $300,000, the project ensured timely delivery of safe water supply through water trucking, network rehabilitation, and water point installations. It also constructed and cleaned latrines and showers, managed solid waste and sewage disposal, distributed hygiene items, conducted hygiene promotion campaigns, and supported local WASH sector coordination and capacity building.
- Improved Hygiene Practicing and Safe Sanitation Services (WASH in Schools/WinS) β Partner: UNICEF β Sector: WASH in Schools (WinS) β Duration: 24/11/2018β24/04/2019 β Location: Samarra, Al-Ishaqi, Al-Dhuluiyah, and Dujail, South Salah al-Din. Overview: SSDF implemented a five-month WinS project to improve hygiene practices and safe sanitation access for children and vulnerable families across South Salah al-Din. With an approved budget of $243,254, the project rehabilitated school WASH facilities across 27 primary schools and carried out additional un-BOQ infrastructure work (corridor casting, water tank connections, septic tank construction). It formed 27 student health clubs (270 members), installed 189 hygiene posters/banners/wall paintings, distributed 543 school cleaning items and 810 individual hygiene gift sets, and ran mass community awareness campaigns reaching 975 families with 8,100 brochures. 60 female secondary teachers were trained to deliver MHM sessions to 7,231 girls, with 3,000 MHM leaflets and 1,500 sanitary napkin packages distributed. Overall the initiative directly benefited 10,556 students (6,123 boys, 4,433 girls) and 792 teachers across 47 targeted schools.
